My late husband Gary was known to most knife collectors.

In 1987, when he could not physically continue his fine woodworking
business (Square Biz), he looked into American contemporary custom
knives, as an opportunity to earn a living. It proved to be a very
good idea. Gary not only became successful but also happy in his venture.
The main component of that success and satisfaction was his admiration
for fine craft in general, knives in particular, and a good eye for finding the
best as they appeared. He also had financial and street smarts
as well as a gentleman-like way of conducting business.

After several years, the knife business become sufficient for both of
us to do it full time. I made this page to give Gary all the credit he deserves
for securing a place for me in the knife world.

A number of makers told me that the fact that Gary had bought a knife from them
gave them much needed confidence at the beginning of their careers.
